Optimize process performance by minimizing energy of chemical costs
METEOR® is designed to offer flexible solutions to a multitude of biological process upgrade applications such as nitrogen removal, treatment capacity increase and wastewater reuse. An upgrade often consists of simply adding the biofilm media and screens to existing basins and can therefore be completed in a cost-effective and timely manner without major civil engineering requirements and no need for additional land.
Based on proprietary polyethylene biofilm carriers, the media technology provides a large internal surface area for the growth of micro-organisms. A 22mm diameter carrier offers the ability to utilize a larger screen mesh size, minimizing headloss across the screen and the tendency to foul. The combination of large aperture area, high specific biomass, and UV resistance makes METEOR® well suited for IFAS applications.

How Does It Work?
The METEOR® biological process offers flexible solutions to a multitude of applications. These include plant capacity expansion, BOD removal upgrade, nitrification (NH3-N removal), total nitrogen removal and biological nutrient removal, including Bio-P. This technology can be used in integrated fixed film activated sludge (IFAS) as well as moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) configurations, thus combining positive traits of attached growth and suspended growth processes.
