Infilco Degremont to Design and Supply a Raw Water Treatment System for TVA’s John Sevier Station Combined Cycle Project

Richmond, VA - The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is constructing an 880 MW combined cycle plant at their John Sevier Reservation located in Rogersville, TN. TVA has selected URS, Princeton, New Jersey to provide engineering and procurement services for the project. In turn, URS has selected SUEZ Environnement affiliate Infilco Degremont, Inc. (IDI) to design and supply the Raw Water Treatment System.

The Raw Water Treatment System will provide service water for a new Combined Cycle Plant named in honor of the State’s first Governor. The raw water will be drawn from the Holston River, treated with sodium hypochlorite, coagulant and polymer and clarified in one of two IDI DensaDeg® Clarifier/Thickeners. The treated water (<2 ppm TSS) will be collected in an Effluent Collection Tank also provided by IDI. The System is divided into two parallel trains and will treat up to 5,000 gallons per minute.

The new Raw Water Treatment System is expected to go on line in 2011. The system will incorporate IDI’s patented DensaDeg® High-Rate Clarifier/Thickener, which requires a much smaller footprint and generates a thicker sludge than conventional systems without the use of separate thickener vessels.
