Haworth WTP: the largest AquaDAF® facility in the U.S.
The faucet was officially “turned on” at a ribbon cutting ceremony held on June 26th at the Haworth Water Treatment Plant in New Jersey. Operated by sister company United Water (SUEZ Environnement), the event celebrated the completion of a recent $100+ million upgrade, making Haworth the most technologically advanced drinking water facility in North America, serving over 750,000 residents in Bergen and Hudson counties.
Provided by Infilco Degremont Inc., the 10 state-of the art AquaDAF units @ 16.5 gpm/ft2 and totaling 208 MGD are at the very heart of what is now the largest DAF facility in the country. United Water cites improved water quality, enhanced reliability, reduced chemical and energy usage and the ability to protect a sensitive ecosystem as the reasons for selecting Infilco’s AquaDAF technology for the project.
As a pre-oxidation step to the DAF treatment, the facility also installed 3 new ozone systems by Ozonia North America, with a design flow of 160 MGD.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Shyam Bhan, COO of Degremont Technologies, praised United Water for their great achievement, and expressed pride in the Degremont teams who were involved in this milestone project. Also in attendance were Mr. François Bernès, CEO of Degremont Technologies, Mr. Anthony Dusovic, CEO of Ozonia North America, and several Degremont colleagues who had participated in the project.
