Degrémont Technologies–Ozonia expands offering for effective Ultraviolet Disinfection for Water and Wastewater Treatment


Ultraviolet (UV) disinfection is environmentally safe and recognized as effective for a wide range of pathogens, including viruses. For more than 20 years, the AQUARAY® UV disinfection systems have offered proven disinfection alternatives to protect the environment from toxic byproducts formed when hazardous chemicals, like chlorine, are combined with organic compounds. Degrémont Technologies-Ozonia can provide a wide range of UV systems for different applications such as drinking water or wastewater disinfection.

Drinking Water applications: To reduce the risk of waterborne diseases, more and more countries are implementing strict limits on pathogens through new regulations. UV systems are used as a final barrier in drinking water treatment plants to disinfect water by inactivating pathogenic microorganisms like viruses, bacteria and parasites. UV lights are particularly effective for chlorine resistant microorganisms such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia, even at low doses.

Aquaray® SLP-DW: The new Low Pressure Extra high Output System for small to medium installations

Degrémont Technologies-Ozonia is introducing the new Aquaray® SLP-DW UV systems. This range has been developed under strict German DVGW guidelines. With the help of CFD modelling software, our R&D centre has designed an “L shaped” reactor to improve the hydraulic profile and by consequence maximise the UV dose and minimise head loss.

Aquaray® H2O: Medium Pressure UV System for large installations

The Aquaray® H2O inline cross flow reactors use high density medium pressure lamps to offer compact footprint and to reduce capital cost. Engineered with advanced CFD modelling software to determine optimum lamp spacing, the system provides consistent and reliable disinfection.

In addition to the German DVGW and the US EPA certifications, the Aquaray® H20 has recently been approved by the French Ministry of Health for the disinfection of drinking water and for the inactivation of Cryptosporidium and Giardia.

Wastewater applications: In order to protect the environment (like rivers, lakes, seas …) increasingly strict regulations have been implemented to limit the pathogenic microorganisms discharge. In the arid areas, due to water scarcity, the treated wastewater can also be used for reuse applications such as land or golf course irrigation. Aquaray® 40 HO: Low Pressure High Output Vertical UV System

With a vertical design, the Aquaray®40 HO offers an easy and quick access to the lamps to reduce the maintenance downtime. VS to the traditional horizontal module, the staggered vertical configuration enhances dramatically the system performance by making it virtually impossible for an organism to avoid the energy field, even if a lamp fails. The low pressure high output lamps are powered by electronic ballasts to generate germicidal UV wavelengths. UV sensors are also installed to monitor the UV intensity from the lamps and guaranteeing that the proper intensity is delivered. Its maintenance is simple but efficient.

Aquaray® 3X : Low Pressure Extra High Output Vertical System

The Aquaray®3X is the third generation of the Degrémont Technologies-Ozonia vertical UV systems combining the well known vertical design with low-pressure extra-high output amalgam UV lamps to reduce footprint. With a combination of variable output electronic ballasts and row by row lamp switching increments, Aquaray®3X ensures energy conservation by dose pacing based on flow rate.
